Great place, as I was having breakfast somebody brought a dog on the tables outside. Was like a border collie mix, extremely educated he begged for food so discreetly, then another dog (a pretentious puddle) was being walk and they say hello.
Border collies were originally breed to herd livestock and they are extremely obedient and intelligent, there was even one who was able to recognize about 200 objects by name, just incredible.
    Food was good.

The corned beef hash is okay. It's most hash browns with a little bit of beef. Service was awful. No one acknowledged us when we walked in. Had to find out from other guests that we can sit anywhere. Took another 5 minutes to get asked about drink order. By then we were ready to order our food. Instead of taking our order, the sever said okay I'll be right back. Went to go plate a few dishes then came to take our order. I got a cup of coffee and the ridges were covered in dust and old food dried on the rim. Gave it back and I'm pretty sure he just rinsed it and gave it back with the dried food still on it. Our food came and it was good. Didn't bring the toast till we were almost done. We had asked if it was coming then he put it in the toaster. When he brought it, it was barely even toasted and we finished our food.

Probably won't come back till it changes ownership again or it's not the owner serving. Probably shouldn't own a small restaurant if you can't serve it too..

The charm of the SMG ends with the decor, which feels like a pleasant throwback to diners from decades gone by. However, this is hardly an excuse for the mediocre food quality, high prices and slow service. Yes, it was lunch but only a few tables were actually in use. The server was glacially slow and kept walking by me without trying to address my interest in ordering. The menu is quite limited and the food quality was pretty poor - it's like something you might make from home, if you were shopping at the Walmart frozen section...

Worse: The pricing is dreadful. For a small sandwich and fries, this coffee shop will get you for $15. Even worse: an iced tea was almost $4. What ever happened to lunch specials?

With the blah food and high prices, I don't think I will be enjoying the lovely charm of the pictures and worn-in seats of the San Marino Grill again.

Thursday morning 9 a.m. two other customers. One cook and a waiter. Coffee is okay, but comes in a really cute cup. Water in stainless steel tumblers almost too cold to hold in your hand. Table is sticky, napkins are cheap and thin, silverware has lots of water spots and finger marks, flaked salt in a regular salt shaker so salt doesn't come out well and the pepper is too large of of a grind, same problem. Menus old and tattered why didn't they just get new ones? Also the little dessert menu on the table is filthy and the folders broken
The atmosphere is way eclectic two TVs a signboard with flashing like it's got a bulb out, a crystal chandelier, black truffle scrambled eggs as a special. Hoping the food is better than the atmosphere. The old place was very cool and retro. This is trying to be trendy Asian and failing while serving American food.

We had the English muffin with hash browns scrambled eggs ham and American cheese. The ham slice was generous the English muffin was done on the grill and not toasted so impossible to cut not crispy at all scrambled eggs for quite good. Hash browns crispy on one side and thawed potatoes in the middle, no seasoning. Pancakes were okay but tough syrup was ok, not totally cheap but not premium. I think it was better on the pancakes but not much. They also sprinkle them with powdered sugar and added quarters strawberries to make it look pretty. Didn't improve the taste. The bacon was fried super crisp only because it was mostly fat and if they hadn't crisped it up it would have looked like a piece of fat. Service is personable enough, but I see no reason to ever return. Was it worth the price to write a Yelp review, no.

Food was amazing! Corned beef hash... WOW! Not much better. I have had many. Had a few bites of the wife's crab Benedict, so fresh and extraordinarily delicious. But wait... the service was amazingly fantastic and friendly. You need to go by if you are in the area.
